Dave Harbin grew up playing with his brothers in the pine woods and flowing creeks of the rolling hills of Southwest Tennessee. As time went by, Dave was blessed by being able to turn one of his passions (fishing) into a professional guide service in the 1980s for out-of-town anglers wanting to partner with a "local" who knew the best fishin' holes and techniques.
During this time Dave was also called on by friends and businesses to help the area develope into a vacation spot for families. He has always been a leader in insuring that families visiting Pickwick Lake would have the opportunity to enjoy the best quality services and recreation activities. In 2002, Dave was presented the "Friend of Tourism Award" for his leadership by the Hardin County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
When not providing fishing guide service and working to improve visitor services, Dave has served as a Southwest Tennessee manager for the Commercial Appeal newspaper (based in Memphis) and as a certified real estate broker. Developing a reputation for his knowledge of local real estate and scouting out the best deals, more and more visitors would call Dave for recommendations on vacation homes for rent and retirement homes.
As demand grew for his services and assistance, Dave decided to launch Pickwick Outdoors at the beginning of the new century as a means of providing the visitor to Pickwick Lake with a "one stop" outlet for vacation, recreation, event and retirement living in the area.
Also in response to growing demand, in 2004 Dave organized and launched the Blue-Gray Golf Trail and teamed with Crye-Leike Real Estate to better serve the Pickwick area. The Trail brought together eight of the best golf courses in Southwest Tennessee packaged with lodging and/or meals. Crye-Leike Real Estate serves the entire Pickwick Lake area with offices in Savannah and Pickwick and offerings of choice homes and lots.
